The Public Works Department is responsible for providing great services and a safe environment for people to live and work. They accomplish this by maintaining all Borough equipment and properties, including roads, buildings, beaches, parks, storm water, and all of the water and sewer infrastructure.

Trash and Recycling is picked up curbside every Monday by Gold Medal Environmental. To ensure pick-up, all trash and recycling containers may be placed at the curb between 3:00 pm Sunday and no later than 5:30 am Monday morning. The containers must be removed from the front of the property by 7 pm Monday. If you have any questions or complaints about your trash/recycling pick up, please contact Gold Medal Environmental at 856.784.5050. Stickers are available at Borough Hall to identify cans for trash and recycling.
Leaf bags are picked up curbside every Tuesday, and are not to exceed 30 lbs.
Free backyard composting bins are available for residents and homeowners. See Go Green with the Backyard Composting Challenge for details.
Branches are picked up curbside every Wednesday and do not have to be placed in bags or bundled.
Bulk Trash is collected at curbside twice a year on the Tuesday after Memorial Day and the Tuesday after Columbus Day. Bulk trash DOES NOT include: tree stumps, yard waste, cast iron, metal pipes, demolition or construction material, cars or car parts, TV sets, or computers.
Household trash, recycling, and bulk items can also be disposed of at the Cape May County Transfer Station (650 Shunpike Road, Burleigh). For hours of operation and items accepted at the Transfer Station, please see the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority website.
Household trash and recycling can no longer be dropped off at the Public Works Yard. Please see Commissioner Statement on Closing Trash and Recycling Yard for more information.
