Cape May Point Beach Patrol

Since its founding in 1910, the Cape May Point Beach Patrol has experienced continual improvement in terms of services provided, preventative lifeguarding tactics, quality of personnel, and competitive efforts. We are the smallest beach patrol in the South Jersey Lifeguard Chief’s Association, yet our performance is equal to that of any patrol.

The Cape May Point Beach Tag Program has been in operation since 1972.  We provide a number of services on the beaches here at the Point. We sell daily, weekly, and seasonal beach tags to anyone 12 and over who wishes to gain access to our beaches.  In addition, we sell commercial tags to rental property owners who wish to provide them as an amenity to their renters. The tag program also offers free tags to veterans and active service members and their immediate families.  We also provide assistance and information to those who request it.

Beach Tags Required

Everyone 12 and over must have a beach tag to access any Cape May Point Beach from the 3rd Saturday in June through Labor Day.  Beach tags are required while lifeguards are on duty and all tags can be purchased on the beaches from any Beach Tag Inspector once beaches open for the season.

Commercial Beach Tags for Rental Properties

For those looking to provide beach tags as an amenity at a rental accommodation, a commercial beach tag must be purchased. Regular seasonal beach tags are not valid when provided as part of a rental accommodation. Commercial tags are $100.00 at all times and will be sold in-person only starting May 1, 2023. If you have any questions about commercial beach tags, please contact Beach Director Chris Garrison at 609-884-8468 extension 22 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
